Crispy Air Fryer Hot Wings
I don’t know about you, but I simply love chicken wings. I mean, they are obviously delicious but I think they are a little fun to eat as well! My absolute favorite wing flavor is a classic hot wing. A little heat, but not too much and that tang….can’t beat it!
Here is my tried and tested hot wing recipe. It involves pre marinating the wings in some spices, double air frying for extra crisp and then tossing them in the hot wing sauce. The sauce recipe below makes a bit extra so you can have some for dipping, or extra saucy wings if you like those.
Recipe for Air Fryer Hot Wings:
Ingredients Needed:
2 lbs chicken wings
4-5 tablespoons olive oil (you could also use vegetable or avocado oil also)
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1-2 tablespoons chives
1-2 tablespoons parsley flakes
Ingredients for sauce:
1/2 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup Franks Red Hot sauce or similar
Servings made: 3-4 servings
Time to Prep: 10 minutes
Time to marinate: 3-4 hours or overnight
Time to Cook: 30 minutes
How to make:
Make sure your wings are patted very dry before adding the spices and oil. Let wings marinate covered in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. When ready to cook, spray your air fryer basket with some cooking spray or olive oil spray and place wings in basket in a single layer. Make sure there is space in between the wings or they will not crisp up as well.
Spray wing tops with olive oil spray and air fry at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking and re spraying them if needed. Remove wings and let cool for about ten minutes. Put them back in the air fryer for another 3-5 minutes to allow them to crisp up. Watch them carefully so they don’t overcook during this step.
While wings are in the air fryer, you can make the sauce. Melt butter and hot sauce together in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for about 20-30 seconds until warm throughout and melted well. You can use a hand whisk to combine together.
Once wings are cooked through, toss them in warmed sauce and serve immediately!
Enjoy!
