Easy Chocolate Mousse

I did not know how simple making chocolate mousse was! Literally 2 ingredients and boom. Mix them together, set in the fridge and grab a spoon.

This mousse recipe can be used to fill or ice cakes, cupcakes, fill tarts, pies, or even eaten by the spoonful on its own.

I love topping the mousse with festive sprinkles, or chocolates to celebrate a holiday like using snowman chocolates for Christmas. An easy way to make a delicious dessert more festive!

Recipe for Chocolate Mousse:

Ingredients Needed:

2 cups of homemade whipped cream

1 ½ cups of milk chocolate chips or good quality chocolate bars *you can use dark or milk chocolate

Servings made: About 2 cups of mousse

Time to Prep: 10 mins

Time to Cook: 15 mins plus inactive time in fridge overnight

How to Make:

Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl. Melt in 20-30 second increments or chocolate will burn. Stir well in between microwaving.

When melted and smooth, allow to cool slightly and fold in 2 cups of whipped cream using a spatula. Don't over mix. When combined, store in fridge for 6-8 hours or overnight until set. If you are making mousse cups or filling tarts/pies, scoop mousse directly into cups or pie shells, top with desired toppings and then place in fridge to set.

If using mousse to fill/ice cakes or cupcakes, let set in fridge and then ice as desired after mousse sets using a piping bag or spatula.

Pro tip - don’t worry if your mousse isn’t super smooth. Sometimes it can be finicky when you mix the whipped cream and melted chocolate together. Trust me, it will taste fantastic and no one will be the wiser.

Enjoy!
