Crispy French Fries (Air Fryer)
We never buy frozen fries anymore. Homemade tastes so much better. We choose to air fry them and they turn out so crispy!
You can obviously deep fry or bake the fries if you want, but using the air fryer is my preferred method.
These homemade fries have made their way into our weekly rotation and my kids love them topped with some chili or even just cooked ground beef/turkey, melted cheese and sour cream. So yum!
Pro tip - Grab yourself a French fry cutter from your local store, dollar store or Amazon. It makes cutting fries a breeze. Literally takes seconds to get perfectly cut fries.
Recipe for Homemade Fries:
Ingredients Needed:
2-3 large russet potatoes, washed, chopped (we keep the skin on)
1-2 tablespoons olive oil or use olive oil spray
Fresh ground pepper and salt to taste (coarse ground salt works really well)
*Optional: 1-2 teaspoons rosemary or parsley flakes
Servings Made: 2-3 servings
Time to Prep: 5-10 minutes
Time to Cook: 15-20 minutes
How to Make:
Toss the cut potatoes in the oil and all seasonings and air fry for about 16-19 mins at 380-400°F. Don’t crowd your airy fryer basket as they won’t cook evenly so you may need to do it in two batches if your basket is small.
Your cooking time will vary depending on the size of your fries, how many you put in the basket and your air fryer brand. Make sure to check the progress partway and toss the fries in the basket to allow even cooking. You can also spray them with some oil spray partway through cooking to make them even crispier.
Pro tip - if you have time, let the cut fries sit in cold water for about 30 minutes. Pat dry then add oil and seasonings. This makes for a crispier fry!
Enjoy!
