Nutella Tarts

These tarts are decadent and filled with hazelnut chocolate goodness. The filling takes maybe 5-7 minutes tops to make!

I use pre made ready graham crusts (mini tart shells). They don’t require any baking so I just make the nutella filling and pour it into the ready made shells. You can use mini tart shells, or a full graham pie crust. Either works, or you can make your own crust also!

I think this filling would be delicious in a chocolate cookie or oreo crust also!

Recipe for Nutella Tart Filling:

Ingredients Needed:

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 cups heavy cream

3/4 cup Nutella hazelnut spread

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

Optional - toasted coconut or roasted hazelnuts for topping (see my pro tip below for how to do this)


Servings Made: one 9 inch pie, or 8-10 mini tarts

Time to Prep: 10 minutes

Time to Cook: 5 minutes plus inactive time in fridge to set (a few hours or overnight)

How to Make:

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with about 1/2 cup of the heavy cream. Mix with a hand whisk until there are no lumps. Pour this into a medium sized pot along with the rest of the heavy cream, nutella, and salt.

Heat this over medium heat continually whisking until the mixture comes to a boil. Let mixture boil for about 3 minutes as you continue whisking. It will thicken as it boils.

After 3 minutes, remove pot from heat, mix in the vanilla and slowly pour into tart shells or pie crust. Top with toasted coconut or roasted chopped hazelnuts if desired. Place into fridge to set for at least 3-4 hours or overnight.

Pro Tip

You can top these tarts with toasted coconut or hazelnuts.

Roasted hazelnuts - place 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts on a parchment lined baking tray. Bake for about 10 minutes at 350°F.

Toasted coconut - place about 1/4 cup of shredded unsweetened coconut on a parchment lined baking tray. Bake for 3-5 minutes at 350°F mixing up about halfway. Keep an eye on it as it can burn fast!
