Spicy Garlic Green Beans

These green beans remind me of the ones that I used to eat at a restaurant growing up. The flavors are very similar and they still pack that extra spicy kick that I recall so well.

I love having these with a side of noodles, rice or cauliflower rice. You can definitely reduce/omit the red chili pepper flakes and chili garlic sauce in this dish to make it mild.

Pro tip - you could follow the same recipe/process for other vegetables as well. I have tried this for snow peas, celery and even broccoli.

Bonus Pro tip - watch this quick video to see this dish come together.

Recipe for Spicy Garlic Green Beans:

Ingredients Needed:

200g fresh green beans washed and strings removed ⁣

1 tablespoon canola oil

⁣1 teaspoon minced garlic

⁣1 teaspoon chili garlic sauce

⁣1-2 tablespoon low sodium soya sauce ⁣

1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar ⁣

1/2 teaspoon sugar (I eyeball this)

⁣1-2 tablespoons water⁣

Red chili pepper flakes to taste ⁣

Servings Made: 2 servings

Time to Prep: 5 minutes

Time to Cook: 5-7 minutes

How to Make:

Heat oil in a wok or large fry pan over medium high heat. Add beans in once the oil is hot and fry in the oil for about 5-6 mins or until skin blistered. *try not to over cook or they will be soggy.

Pro tip - make sure your oil is hot before adding the beans. This helps to ensure the beans actually fry in the oil rather than soaking up the oil.

Add minced garlic and chili garlic sauce and stir well for about 1 minute to allow garlic to cook. Add soya sauce, vinegar, sugar and chili flakes. Mix well then add water.

Cook another few mins until liquid almost gone or thickens up. Serve topped with sesame seeds.

Enjoy! ⁣
